We recommend seven activities of Easter in Pátzcuaro, which have made our magical village one of the favorite destinations to enjoy the traditions of this season in Mexico:
1.  Visit the Altares de Dolores (Altars of Sorrow)
The Friday of Sorrows opens with Altars of Sorrows in Pátzcuaro. Most notable among these altars is the imaginative altar in front of the Town Hall, opposite the Plaza Vasco de Quiroga.

We recommend a tour of the different altars located in Pátzcuaro, including those at the Casa de los Once Patios, the Palace of Huitziméngari, the Folk Art Museum, and Ex Colegio Cultural Centre. Our Hotel Mansion Iturbe also participates in this tradition.  Our Altar is located inside the hotel.

2.  Palm Sunday
Pátzcuaro celebrates Palm Sunday fervently. Early in the morning, the streets are filled with activity, with people coming to the various churches to bless their palms. At every turn, you can see traditional bouquets of hand-woven palms.

These Palms symbolize the beginning of Holy Week and remind us of the palms and branches of olive that people used in Jerusalem to worship Jesus in his glorious entry, when they cheered him as King.

3.- Visit the Seven Downtown Churches
People attend different temples as the company, such as la Compañia, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe, San Francisco, and the Basilica of Our Ladyof Health.
