Tianguis Turistico de Mexico 2012

This year, people in the Mexican tourist industry saw a change in the traditional Tourist Fair:  for the first time, it was held in Puerto Vallarta (state of Jalisco) and Rivera Nayarit (state of Nayarit).
We were able to chat with national and international people in the industry about the changes in the Fair.  It was agreed that such changes actually promote the diversity in the attractions that Mexico has to offer our diverse visitors.

Without a doubt, Puerto Vallarta and Rivera Nayarit were most deserving hosts for this event.  They really went out of their way to make us feel most welcome.
The hosts really knew what they were doing:  The inaugural event, held in the Marina Rivera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, was very well organized, and all the participants immediately felt comfortable talking with their comrades, thanks to the generous hospitality of their hosts.  This acted as the perfect prelude to digging in their heels for the work that needed to be doing the following day.

An estimated 7,500 people participated in the Tourist Fair.  As usual, the State of Michoacán was well represented, as in years past.  But this time, Michoacán’s booth really stood out.
Michoacan's booth used the latest high-tech tools, like IPads and other touch-screen gismos, which presented us in English and Spanish.  Diverse attractions such as lovely wedding destinations, exquisite culinary traditions, and our famous Pueblos Mágicos (we have five of them, you know, among which we find Pátzcuaro, of course!), to mention just a few, were showcased.

Michoacán Sensorial Experience attracted a lot of attention.  With it, the visitor was able to get a sense of our lovely changes in climate, the sounds we love – everything short of the the aromas  that we live for!  It is a fine video that really showcases the best of our State.

Speaking of AROMAS!  They were actually represented in grand fashion in an exhibition of Cotija Cheese and Mezcal with the presence of the Gastronomic Embasador of Mexico, Patricia Quintana.  You had to be there to appreciate this exhibition!
If you missed this event, we are sorry, because it was spectacular.  Come visit us and enjoy the real thing – Michoacán – in person!
